Cancun, Q.R. — Police say a man in Cancun has been charged with trafficking of persons in the form of child pornography. The charges were laid Monday after an investigation by Cancun police lead to an arrest.
Marco Antonio “N” was taken into custody by elements of the Investigative Police, in coordination with the National Guard and the Municipal Police. They “executed an arrest warrant against Marco Antonio “N” for his probable responsibility in the possession and viewing of videos and images of child pornography stored on various electronic devices and cloud accounts,” police reported.
Cancun authorities said their investigations involved the collaboration of the General Directorate of Cybernetic Investigation of the Intelligence, Cybernetic Investigation and Technological Operations Unit, attached to the Undersecretariat of Police Intelligence of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, as well as the Attaché of National Security Investigations of the United States in Mexico.
Following the arrest of Marco Antonio “N”, members of the Investigative Police carried out the search warrant at a property on José López Portillo Avenue in the Privadas del Sol subdivision of Superblock 61.
This procedure allowed the seizure of cartridges of various calibers, cell phones, USB devices, modems, SIM cards, a laptop computer and an electronic tablet.
The investigations also link Marco Antonio “N” to the probable obtaining of photographs and videos of minors, without their consent, in shopping malls and other public spaces.
“Following the formal indictment of Marco Antonio “N”, the judge also imposed the precautionary measure of preventive detention for a term of two years or for the duration of the judicial process,” they added.
