Five charged with rape and extortion of Colombian woman

Tulum, Q.R. — Five men have been charged with the rape and extortion of a Colombian woman. Two of the men have previous convictions for drug trafficking and homicide.

Charged with rape are José Benjamín “N,” alias “Cuervo,” Fernando “N,” Pablo Ramsés “N,” Cristian Yuriel “N,” and Luis Ernesto “N.” The former have two previous convictions for their alleged involvement in aggravated homicide and drug trafficking offenses, police said in a statement.

“The events under investigation occurred on May 16 of this year when Pablo “N” contacted the victim, a Colombian national, through an internet website arranging a service and the corresponding payment.

“He also told her to go to an apartment located on Osiris Sur Street on the corner of Mercurio Sur, that day at 8:30 p.m.

“Upon arriving, the woman was greeted by Pablo “N,” but then six more men appeared. One of them ordered her to be restrained and have her mouth covered with a T-shirt.

“He then told her she had to “fall in line,” for which she would have to pay them 2,500 pesos a week. He then told the others to rape her so she’d understand what he had said and see that he wasn’t playing around.

“One by one, they committed the rape while the person giving the order held a gun to her head, assuring them that if she moved, he would kill her. Once they had all committed the crime, the man in question instructed them to take nude photos of her.

“After this, they let her go, but every week they came to collect the agreed-upon money, threatening to kill her if she told anyone what had happened. On one occasion, they gave her a printed photo of the ones they had taken on the day of the incident, as a reminder that she must obey them,” the FGE reported.

“The victim decided to report them and five of her attackers were captured and charged. They were placed under preventive detention for two years or the duration of the judicial proceedings.”

Police did not report on the sixth man involved.
