Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum firemen put out a fire early Sunday morning reported in a coastal area boutique. Local authorities were made aware of the fire around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the Tulum-Boca Paila highway.

Tulum firemen in three units along with Civil Protection personnel and elements of the Navy responded to the report. Commander Daniel Martínez headed the fire fighting operation that last about 30 minutes after firemen arrived to a partially engulfed store with fast moving flames.
Firemen were forced to break open a padlock to access other areas to prevent the fire from spreading. Navy personnel assisted by using several dry chemical powder extinguishers.
Abelardo Cajún Peniche, who heads Tulum Civil Protection, said the fire was considered officially extinguished by 2:00 a.m. There were no injuries reported since the boutique was closed at the time of the fire.

Authorities did not provide a possible cause for the fire, however, they did say their investigation into how it started continues.
