FGE says no protection for Dispossession Cartel that illegally seize real estate

Tulum, Q.R. — The State Attorney (FGE) says there will be no protection for the “Dispossession Cartel” that operates around the state. State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar says victims of the so-called “Cartel del Despojo” should file a complaint against the corrupt officials who, he says, operate in their own institution.

State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar, center, says victims need to file complaints.

At least a dozen businessmen from Tulum are currently in legal battles to recover properties seized through fraudulent forces since June 2024.

Prosecutor Raciel López stated that unlike previous administrations, there will be no protection for criminal groups who illegally seize real estate.

According to López Salazar, the three most affected areas by the fraudulent “dispossession cartel” real estate seizures are Tulum, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen) and Benito Juárez (Cancun).

Workers and guests are often left on the street after an illegal property seizure as seen here in Tulum.

Raciel López says he will personally assist the victims who want to file complaints against public servants who obstruct the administration of justice.

Those affected have describe a well-organized network of corruption that manipulates labor and civil lawsuits in various states to illegally seize the properties.

López Salazar says the corrupt officials operate inside their own institution.

“The message is clear. If someone has been a victim of this network they should report it,” insisted López Salazar, inviting citizens to seek hearings or go to the Internal Affairs Prosecutor’s Office.
