Cozumel, Q.R. — More than 130,000 cruise ship passengers will visit the island of Cozumel during the last week of January. The island has had a busy first month of the New Year with an average of 19,000 passengers a day docking the island.

According to its mayor, José Luis Chacón Méndez, an estimated 133,936 cruise ship tourists are expected this week. He reported that those visitors will arrive on 38 ships that will dock at the various local piers.
Chacón Méndez stressed that the joint effort has allowed Cozumel to remain one of the preferred tourist destinations.
“It is a pride to lead the arrival of cruise ships and a pleasure to welcome visitors. We will continue to promote tourism to generate direct benefits for the families of our community,” he said.
According to the arrival schedule published by the Quintana Roo Port Authority (APIQROO), for the week of January 27 to February 2, the day with the greatest influx of visitors will be Wednesday the 29th with 28,433 passengers arriving on seven ships.
On January 30th, 21,925 tourists are expected, while on January 31st, another 24,237 passengers will arrive on six ships to visit the island.

As for the distribution by maritime terminals, the Puerta Maya dock will receive 15 cruise ships with 56,432 passengers, representing 41.13 percentt of the weekly total.
The SSA Mexico International Cruise Terminal will receive 12 ships with 39,943 passengers, equivalent to 28.82 percent of the total, and the Punta Langosta Cozumel Terminal will host 11 cruise ships with 37,561 tourists, representing 28.04 percent of the total.

With these figures, Cozumel reaffirms its leadership as one of the main cruise destinations in the Caribbean, attracting thousands of visitors who enjoy its beaches, landscapes and tourist services.
