Cozumel, Q.R. — A crocodile reported for hanging out in front of an island restaurant Friday night was subdued and relocated by Cozumel firemen. Initially, two firemen were sent to the scene where the large reptile was located on a city street in front of a restaurant in the hotel zone.
The croc, which was more than two meters in length, was eventually tied by one of the firemen after the other sat on top of it, subduing him.
One of the responding firemen used his jacket to throw over the croc’s head while the other grabbed his tail to prevent an escape.
Once the crocodile had its head positioned over the sidewalk, one firefighter proceeded to sit on him while the other man tied his snout and legs. Due to its size, reinforcement personnel arrived to help load the reptile into the bed of a pickup truck.
According to Rafael Tenorio Pizano, the Director of Cozumel Civil Protection and Firefighters, the croc was transported to the firehall where it was doused with buckets of water while it waited for island ecology personnel to come and relocate it Saturday afternoon.
