Campeche man arrested in Playa del Carmen accused of Fifth Avenue drug sales and city murders

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Campeche man arrested in central Playa del Carmen is being investigated for multiple murders. Police said Monday that the 37 year old is believed connected to at least five murders committed in the city.

In a Monday press conference, State Prosecutor Raciel López Salazar said Martín de Jesús “N”, alias “El Comandante Oso”, was arrested last week in central Playa del Carmen.

Since his Wednesday arrest, authorities have learned about his involvement in the homicides of at least five people in Playa del Carmen.

López Salazar reported that Martín de Jesús “N” was arrested on February 4th in the vicinity of the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood. During his arrest, he was found in possession of an AR-15 and an M4, both 5.56 caliber, with 60 rounds of ammunition.

He was also carrying a 9mm pistol with 13 rounds and an undisclosed amount of marijuana. López Salazar said Martín de Jesús “N” was involved in street-level drug dealing on Fifth Avenue.

He was also involved in extorting “protection money” from residents in the city’s far west irregular community of In-House. It is there, where he is accused of being involved in at least five murders.

López Salazar stated Martín de Jesús “N” has been directly linked to five homicides that occurred last year in that settlement. He reported that they all stemmed from disputes over the control of drug sales.

Among the cases is the murder of Juan Manuel “N” on March 10, Rosemberg “N” on March 30, Beatriz Adriana “N” on June 12, César Eduardo “N” on June 29 and Abel “N” on July 13, 2025.
