Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities in Cancun have captured another criminal group member considered a most wanted. José Rafael “N”, alias “El Dóber”, was arrested from his vehicle in the Cancun Hotel Zone Monday with nearly 300,000 in Mexican pesos and American cash.
Police said his vehicle was intercepted while he was driving on Kukulcán Boulevard in the Cancun Hotel Zone. During his detainment, police found narcotics, a loaded handgun and over 200,000 pesos and an additional $5,300 in American cash.
He was taken into custody with a second person, a woman police have identified as Valeria Teresita “N” and/or Arelia “N”. Both are facing drug and firearm charges.
“The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office reports that, as a result of an operation carried out in coordination with members of the Interinstitutional Group, they arrested two people and seized various pieces of evidence allegedly related to acts constituting the crime of drug dealing,” authorities reported Monday.

“The operation took place when the participating elements were carrying out prevention and surveillance patrols on Kukulcán Boulevard at kilometer 4.5, where a vehicle was intercepted in which the now detained people were traveling.”
They have been identified as José Rafael “N”, alias “El Dóber” and Valeria Teresita “N” and/or Arelia “N”.
During the operation, officers seized a green, dried plant material resembling marijuana, a white powder consistent with cocaine, and a semi-automatic handgun with loaded magazines.
They also seized 213,370 Mexican pesos and $5,300 US in cash, the equivalent of around 95,000 pesos, as well as a 2017 RAM 2500 pickup truck.
Police say José Rafael “N”, alias “El Dóber”, is a priority target of the State Crime Atlas, a person considered a most wanted in Quintana Roo, belonging to a criminal group that generates violence in Cancun.
The detainees, along with the evidence seized and the vehicle, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“The State Attorney General’s Office reiterates its commitment to working in coordination with authorities at all levels of government to strengthen security actions and combat crimes that affect the peace of the citizenry.”

Earlier this month, police in Cancun captured a cartel plaza boss that ran the northern and Riviera Maya part of the state. The man they captured oversaw arms and drug trafficking in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and even Tulum.
During his arrest, he was found in possession of narcotics, a loaded weapon, four cell phones and 300,000 pesos in cash.
