Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — An elderly man missing two days has been found alive and transferred to hospital. Local authorities say Fermín Aguilar was found alive in the jungle of Felipe Carrillo Puerto Saturday.
He was found suffering only from dehydration.

He was located by a large search team that included both government officials, family and local residents.
“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of government authorities, the invaluable participation of the public, and the support of local landowners, Fermín Aguilar was found alive in the jungle of the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, where he had been lost for more than two days,” State Civil Protection reported.
He was transported for medical attention after he was found suffering from dehydration, “though this is not life-threatening, and will undergo a general evaluation,” they added.
The 80 year old man went missing late last week and was not found until early Saturday afternoon. Authorities reported that a Playa del Carmen helicopter was used in the search to perform flyovers in hopes of locating the missing man.
The two day search operation consisted of the Search Commission, the Mexican Ministry of Defense, National Guard, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the Quintana Roo Ministry of Citizen Security, as well canine teams.
“We also thank the municipality of Playa del Carmen for providing the helicopter that assisted in the search efforts in this difficult-to-access area,” they said.
