42.9 million invested into PDC 10 Avenue remodeling project

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Mayor Estefanía Mercado oversaw the progress of the city’s 10 Avenue remodeling project. With an investment of over 42.9 million pesos, the project will benefit more than 60,000 residents and improve mobility on one of the city’s main arteries.

The project, “Remodeling and Repaving of Avenida 10 Norte, Phase One,” will directly benefit more than 60,000 residents and improve urban mobility in one of Playa del Carmen’s busiest areas.

Accompanied by the Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Dorys Aké, the Mayor toured the section between Constituyentes and CTM avenues where work is being carried out.

Current work includes leveling, reconstructing sidewalks and curbs, installing lighting, planters, drainage wells, ramps and new asphalt, in addition to road signage for safer mobility.

“We’re widening the sidewalks, creating a two-way bike lane and increasing the median strip so we can plant more trees. This is how we’re building a more humane, sustainable, and orderly city!” she said.

This project, she said, represents our commitment to the well-being and safety of Playa del Carmen families.

“We know that 10th Avenue is an essential thoroughfare for workers, merchants and tourists; its rehabilitation will strengthen mobility and contribute to the orderly development of our city.”

Meanwhile, Dorys Aké added that the remodeling of Avenida 10 Norte is part of Axis 4: Urban Transformation of the 2024–2027 Municipal Development Plan, focused on executing quality public works that address the population’s most urgent needs.

The investment totals 42,914,671.71 pesos from the Fund for Strengthening Municipalities (FORTAMUN).
