Pérez Medina reported that the 2,140 tons of sargassum has been collected as part of the national strategy against sargassum, efforts of which have been strengthened with the addition of volunteers from the private sector, civil society and the Navy.

More than 2,140 tons has been lifted so far this season.

She added that her Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (Zofemat) staff begin cleanup and sargassum removal at 5:00 a.m. each day so that the beaches are ready early to welcome island families and tourists visiting Isla Mujeres this summer.
