Cancun, Q.R. — A woman charged with the broad daylight murder of a Cancun police officer has been identified as a Yucatan hitwoman. State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar said after the June 16 arrest of Yolanda Berenice “N” for shooting the officer to death, they have connected her to three other murders.

During his Monday morning press conference, Salazar said the 24 year old woman has been a contract killer for at least four years. According to their investigation, Yolanda Berenice “N”, who is from the state of Yucatan, was recruited by a criminal gang at the age of 20.
In the past four years, she is alleged responsible for three other murders, one of which, Salazar said, was captured on a surveillance camera without providing any further details on that particular murder.
“This young woman has been a contract killer since she was 20. She was recruited by a criminal group and is involved in three more homicides where she is captured in a State Police video. This is captured on video ,” he said Monday.
Yolanda Berenice “N”, 24, has been charged with aggravated homicide against a Municipal Department of Citizen Security and Traffic officer identified as 45 year old Victor “N”, a 15 year veteran of the force.

Victor “N” was intercepted by Yolanda Berenice “N” on the morning of June 16 while walking his teen son to school. He was shot several times and died at the scene. Yolanda Berenice “N” was arrested at the scene moments after the deadly shooting. Salazar said Monday they believe the shooting was a “settling of scores” between criminal groups operating in Cancun.
