Woman accused of recruiting Cancun high school students for prostitution arrested

Cancun, Q.R. — A woman alleged responsible for recruiting high school girls from a Cancun school for prostitution has been arrested. On Friday, local authorities said Elizabeth Shekina “N” was taken into custody.

She was arrested for likely being “in charge of recruiting, transporting and delivering the minors to the clients who hired sexual services,” police said. According to the State Attorney General, “two minors were rescued, alleged victims of human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution.

“Initial investigations indicate that at a secondary school in SM 64 of Cancun, a student recruited classmates to work as “escorts”, providing sexual services in exchange for money and gifts, both within and outside the state.

Elizabeth Shekina “N” has been identified as the “boss” where the young recruited students were taken, “delivering the minors to the clients who hired sexual services for a cost of between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos, of which she kept a 500-peso commission,” they said.

Elizabeth Shekina “N” was taken into custody on an arrest warrant. She is facing charges of human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution.
