Chiquilá, Q.R. — A woman in custody for property extortion in the Port of Chiquilá has been officially charged. Berenice del Rosario “N” was charged Thursday for threatening two people out of their commercial property.
According to police, in May 2025, Berenice del Rosario “N” threatened two victims to sign over their deeds for her personal gain. The property is used commercially as a public parking lot and a convenience store.

“At the location, Berenice del Rosario “N” and her accomplices allegedly used threats with a firearm to subdue the victim and force her to sign documents transferring possession rights and several promissory notes with the aim of appropriating the property,” police reported in a statement.
Berenice del Rosario “N” was taken into custody on an arrest warrant by Investigative Police April 16.
At the time of her arrest police said “this individual has an outstanding arrest warrant for extortion and belongs to a criminal group that generates violence in the Chiquilá, Holbox area.
“Members of the Centurion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security noticed a woman who suddenly stepped in front of them; the unit had to brake sharply to avoid an incident.
“This woman began making obscene gestures, insulting the officers, and attempted to assault them. The incident occurred on Pablo Cruz Street in the Centro neighborhood of Chiquilá in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas.”
On Thursday, Berenice del Rosario “N” was officially charged with extortion and ordered to remain jailed during her legal process.
Authorities did not say if they are expanding possible charges to include her accomplises.
