Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — In her Third Report to the People, Governor Mara Lezama called on Quintana Roo to defend what has been achieved, deepen the transformation and not allow setbacks.
With historic results in social welfare, health, education and the fight against corruption, the government of Quintana Roo consolidates the new development model with shared prosperity, she explained Thursday night.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa emphasized that more than halfway through her term of an honest, different administration, a project is being consolidated that fundamentally changes things, once and for all, under the model of the Fourth Transformation.
From the community of Calderitas, northeast of the city of Chetumal, Governor Lezama urged everyone not to allow a return to the past, which is forever over.
“We, the people of Quintana Roo, have the opportunity to demand governments with open doors, honesty and a commitment to society,” she emphasized adding, “the people of Quintana Roo are a great people and they will no longer accept past governments, nor will they return to corruption and the arrogance of power. We can no longer take a step back.”
Mara Lezama outlined, one by one, the achievements of a government that works every day, 24/7, that spans the territory from south to north and from east to west, that reaches remote places that were previously completely outside the scope of political decisions.
“The people of Quintana Roo know they have an accessible governor who cares and resolves, who applies the principle: For the good of all, the poor come first,” she said.
For these achievements, she expressed her gratitude for the strong support, at the time, of then-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and now President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
Lezama pointed out that it is not a question of political affiliation because at the end of the day, we are not equal, “and people know it. It is a question of a new attitude in the exercise of politics and public administration which is part of the profound transformation that the state and the country are undergoing.

“At this historic moment, I am filled with hope knowing that there are new generations of committed and prepared people, who bring new ideas, strength, projects, and a deep attachment to and love for their land. And it will be up to them to consolidate what has been achieved.”
Mara Lezama stated that upon reaching the Third Government Report, she does so with great emotion, with the profound satisfaction of knowing that the proposed course is being followed, of honoring the commitment made from the first day of this humanist government, of implementing a new way of governing, facing the people, without lies or double talk, with honesty, courage, transparency, austerity and efficiency.
As part of these achievements Governor Lezama reported through the Mobile Health Caravans, more than 16,000 women received free healthcare when previously, they had no opportunity.
With Women is Power, which offers bimonthly financial scholarships, it allows women to become economically empowered and distance themselves from violent relationships, a project reinforced by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crimes against Women.

She also reported delivered state-of-the-art mammograms to the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Hospital and a state-of-the-art CT scanner to the Playa del Carmen Hospital. Three health centers were built in Puerto Arturo, El Cedral, and San Ángel, and the Nicolás Bravo and Tulum hospitals were opened.
The operating rooms in Kantunilkín, José María Morelos, Tulum, and Nicolás Bravo will be renovated before the end of the year.
Spaces such as the Child Care Centers in Bacalar, Cancún, Chetumal and Playa del Carmen were rehabilitated. The government rehabilitated and equipped the Home for Children and Adolescents, the Office for the Protection of Children, Adolescents and the Family, the Comprehensive Assistance Home for Adolescents and the Home for the Elderly.
She noted that Quintana Roo is one of the three states without irregularities from the Superior Audit Office of the Federation in the 2024 public accounts. When she took office, Quintana Roo was among the 10 states with the highest number of irregularities.
Mara Lezama recounted the many achievements, all of them in compliance with the five pillars of government: Social Welfare and Quality of Life, Citizen Security, Inclusive Economic Development, Environment and Sustainable Growth and Honest and Transparent Government.

She reported a historic 9.3% reduction in the state’s poverty rate. “177,000 Quintana Roo residents have escaped poverty, representing the lowest level recorded in Quintana Roo in the last 15 years,” she said.
“We still have a lot to do, but we’re on the right track,” she said Thursday night.
