Web monitoring by National Center for Missing and Exploited Children leads to Cancun arrest

Cancun, Q.R. — Web monitoring by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has led to a Cancun arrest. Elements of the Investigative Police carried out an arrest warrant against Juan José “N”. Police say he was picked up for his alleged involvement in the crime of human trafficking in its form of child pornography.

They said Juan José “N” was arrested after local authorities received reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was using websites to distribute child pornography.

“The now detained man is being investigated following a complaint from the Scientific Directorate of the National Guard, which reports that the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) office in Mexico forwarded three reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NECMEC), indicating that Juan José “N”, using a pseudonym, allegedly used various platforms to disseminate, distribute, store, create, produce, exchange, and share files containing images and videos of child pornography,” the State Attorney General (FGE) said in a statement.

Additionally, the FGE carried out a search warrant at the suspect’s residence where they secured the modem and electronic devices related to child pornography material.

Police also said that during the time of his arrest, “the cell phone that Juan José “N” had in his possession at the time of his arrest was the one he used to share pornography files.”

According to the Tanner Scale, a model used to determine sexual maturity, the files of child pornography material found were mostly of people under 18 years of age.

After complying with the legal procedures, the detainee, along with the secured evidence, were placed at the disposal of local authorities.
