Cancun, Q.R. — Four heavily armed people have been arrested for drug and firearm violations outside a Cancun mall. Police say one of the detained is currently wanted in the state of Yucatan for murder.
The Centurion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and Mexican Navy arrested three men and one woman, members of an organized crime group, during patrols focused on crime prevention.
All four are on state most wanted lists between Yucatan and Quintana Roo. One of the men arrested has a current outstanding warrant for aggravated homicide in the state of Yucatan.
Their arrests were made Sunday near the Cancun Outlet Plaza where authorities seized over 200 street doses of narcotics, three loaded guns, nine cell phones and more than 100,000 in cash.

Police say their arrests were the result of intelligence and investigative work of the Quintana Roo Peacebuilding Task Force. That task force, authorities said, consists of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense and National Guard
In a statement, police reported seizing “268 small transparent plastic bags containing a green plant material resembling marijuana, three 9mm handguns with magazines loaded with 15, 14, and 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition and three identification cards.”
The arresting officers reported also seizing “102,000 Mexican pesos in bills of various denominations, nine cell phones, a copy of the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP) certificate and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with license plates from the State of Mexico.”

Police said “it is important to note that the detainees are high-priority targets in the states of Yucatan and Quintana Roo linked to a criminal group involved in drug trafficking and firearms possession.
“According to government databases, one of the detainees has an outstanding arrest warrant for aggravated homicide in the state of Yucatan.

“The detainees, Cristian “N”, Alejandro “N”, Jaqueline Anahí “N”, and Jaime Richard “N” and/or Shamir “N”, were turned over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking.”
