Cancun, Q.R. — More than 90 flights bound for Cancun’s Mexican Caribbean have already been disrupted by a massive U.S. winter storm. As of Monday morning, Winter Storm Fern caused delays and cancellations to at least 98 departures heading for Cancun International.

Impacts from the large winter storm are expected to continue throughout the week as it moves across the U.S. Major airlines are advising passengers to be aware of additional flight cancellations and delays.

Since the storm hit the U.S. Saturday morning, over 11,000 flights across the country have been affected.
According to Grupo Aeroportuario de Sureste (ASUR), the company that manages the Cancun International Airport, on Sunday, more than two dozen flights by American Airlines, Delta, Viva Aerobus and JetBlue were affected both coming and going from the Cancun airport.

Asur (Southeast Airport Group) reported at least 17 of those affected flights were cancellations expected to land at Cancun.
According to data from Flightradar24, at least 50 flights from the United States and Canada to Cancun were affected over the weekend. Some of those also included two cancelled flights into Cozumel International and three at the Tulum International Airport.
Other airlines affected by delays heading for Cancun include Air Canada, Frontier, Porter Airlines, Sun Country and WestJet, as well as Delta, Southwest and United Airlines.

As of 8:30 a.m. (Cancun time) Monday, Flightaware had already reported 29 delays and 23 cancellations from U.S. and Canadian airlines destined for Cancun International.
Heavy snow is forecast to continue to impact the Northeast into early Monday.
