U.S. Marshals Service assisted by local FGE in arresting American fugitive hiding in Bacalar

Bacalar, Q.R. — Investigative Police of Quintana Roo arrested an American fugitive in the town of Bacalar. The arrest of 40 year old American Justin “N” was made September 25 in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Raciel López Salazar reported on his capture Monday

According to authorities, Justin “N” had been detected in the municipalities of Bacalar and Cozumel prior to his capture. He was taken into custody September 25 near 40th Street in the town of Bacalar. State Attorney General (FGE) head Raciel López Salazar said Monday that elements of the Investigative Police arrested him for various sexual offenses including child pornography and sexual exploitation.

The capture was achieved following a request for assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service who had tracked his presence in two municipalities of Quintana Roo.

“We became aware of the presence of a sexual offender identified as Justin, 40 years old, a foreign national who had been detected in the municipalities of Cozumel and Bacalar.

“As a result, Investigative Police officers began searching for this individual which led to his location and arrest on September 25 near 40th Street in Bacalar,” the prosecutor said.

Salazar said the American national was taken into custody near 40th Street in Bacalar where an arrest warrant was served against him for the crimes of human trafficking for sexual servitude, sexual assault of a victim with a disability, sexual exploitation of a child, acquisition of a child for sexual exploitation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, illegal sexual contact and child pornography.

Following his Thursday arrest, Justin “N” was handed over to Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) who have since deported him, turning him over to U.S. authorities for his return back to the States.
