Tulum Q.R. — Tulum Transit have begun putting mobility order back into the town’s central area of Aldea Zamná. Tulum Municipal Transit, in coordination with the General Directorate of Inspection, launched an operation Tuesday to free-up illegally occupied public spaces.
Traffic Director Jessica Orozco Zavala reported that the operation is in response to area residents and businesses who have reported obstructed sidewalks and parking spaces.
Orozco Zavala said personal visits were paid to the problem areas Tuesday where police invited people to voluntarily remove the items blocking public passage. She said the Traffic Regulations of the Municipality of Tulum and other municipal and state regulations prohibit the misuse of public roads and empower authorities to guarantee free transit and urban safety.
The order requires that objects not be placed in such a way that blocks streets or sidewalks, and that structures that encroach on public spaces be removed. Failure to comply will result in the forced removal of the objects, including vehicles, which will be taken to the appropriate depot.

Manuel Cano, the Administrator of the Aldea Zamná commercial area said he supports the operation to free up blocked public spaces and improve mobility.

The head of Tulum Transit reported that the operation will be extended to other areas where similar incidents have been reported. “We seek to recover space for pedestrians and cyclists and improve the urban image,” said Orozco Zavala.
