Mexico City, Mexico — The Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) officially declared Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo as the next President of Mexico.
The live announcement was made across the nation Wednesday after confirming her victory in the June presidential elections with a total of 35,924,519 votes, representing 59.7 percent of the total.
The Superior Chamber of the Tribunal Electoral del Poder Judicial de la Federación (TEPJF) validated the presidential election, confirming Sheinbaum meets all the legal requirements to assume the presidency of the United Mexican States.
The TEPJF stated that the election was free and authentic, complying with the principles of certainty, legality, independence, impartiality, maximum publicity and integrity.
The resolution underlined the legality of all stages of the electoral process in which 99.9 percent of the 170,181 polling stations were set up with votes being cancelled in only 27. Citizen participation was totaled at 60,115,184 voters.
The Electoral Tribunal judges unanimously recognized the victory of Claudia Sheinbaum, candidate of the coalition Let’s Keep Making History made up of Morena, PT and PVEM, describing her victory as “resounding”.
Presiding Judge Mónica Soto called the recent vote the largest, most inclusive and equal electoral process in the history of Mexico.
On August 15, the Superior Court will officially certify Claudia Sheinbaum as President-Elect of Mexico, making her the first female president of Mexico.
