Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A judge has ordered a man to remain behind bars while he faces extortion charges in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Bacalar. Authorities say Ramon “N” was picked up on an outstanding arrest warrant in Tabasco for extorting a business owner with multiple locations around Quintana Roo.
The State Attorney General (FGE) says Ramon “N” is accused of extorting the same businessman at his various locations around the state. He had been demanding 70,000 a month in floor right payments from the man since 2023 from his base in Tabasco. With assistance from the Tabasco FGE, Ramon “N” was located, arrested and returned to Quintana Roo.
Police reported “according to preliminary investigations, the victim was being subjected to financial demands for “floor rights” by an individual identified as “El Comander,” a member of a criminal group operating in the state.
“For several months, the victim sent around 70,000 pesos a month through deposits to Ramón “N,” who, in turn, from his base in the state of Tabasco, dispersed the money he collected from extortion to various businesses and shops in the tourist areas of Quintana Roo.

“Field and office analysis work, as well as the exchange of information between the corporations, made it possible to establish his location. Therefore, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Tabasco, investigative police agents arrested Ramón “N.”
At a hearing, the judge validated the arrest of Ramón “N” and ordered his prosecution for the crime of extortion, imposing preventive detention for the duration of the proceedings.
