Suspicion of drug exchange leads police to inventory of stolen motorcycles

Cancun, Q.R. — Five people stopped for inspection on suspicion of drug exchange were found in possession of stolen vehicles. Cancun police made the bust Thursday on Lupita Street in the El Pedregal neighborhood of Cancun after seeing the group exchange bags of what appeared to be narcotics.

An inspection revealed nearly 100 bags of a variety of drugs as well as one loaded handgun and two replicas. Police also seized drug paraphernalia, ammo and cell phones. During the inspection, one male attempted to make a break for it on a motorcycle. He was intercepted.

A further inspection of the motorcycles found at the scene revealed all seven of them had outstanding theft reports. None of the bikes were plated. Some were found disassembled. Two of the working motorcycles had theft reports as recent as June 21, 2025. Five others were found with outstanding robbery reports that date back to November and December of 2024.

In custody are Jonathan Israel “N”, Leandro “N”, Argenly “N” and Jesús Uriel “N” as well as a 15-year-old minor with the initials A.D.D.C.

The armed group were arrested by members of the Orion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security in coordination with personnel from the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office and the Benito Juárez Municipal Police.
