Suspects who shot up Cancun restaurant to intimidate owner to pay extortion money charged

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has agreed to a trial for two men accused of shooting up a business for refusing to pay floor fees. Both men are facing charges of extortion for requesting one million pesos from a business owner.

Jorge Emmanuel “N” and Kevin Enrique “N” have been accused of attempting to intimidate a restaurant owner into paying floor fees by shooting at his establishment after he ignored their initial requests.

According to Cancun police, “the events for which Jorge Emmanuel “N” and Kevin Enrique “N” were charged occurred on June 23 of this year, when the victim, owner of a restaurant, received a phone call in which a man told him verbatim: tell me which of your businesses I will stop by for a million pesos for the collection of “floor rights,” which prompted him to hang up.

“The following day the victim received two calls that he didn’t answer and then on July 17, he received a WhatsApp message asking if he was going to “fix it,” so he blocked the number.

“That same day he received another call in which a man’s voice could be heard telling him that since he hadn’t bothered to “fix it,” they were going to affect him and his businesses and that they would proceed to shoot all of his premises that day.”
