Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect police say is likely responsible for the collapse of a real estate project that killed two is in custody. On Thursday, authorities identified Amir “N” as the person responsible for the concrete collapse of a project under construction.

During the June 5 collapse, two people were killed and five others injured when a large section of a residential archway entrance gave way.
Police say during their investigation, they located Amir “N” in the state of San Luis Potosi. He was arrested and returned to Quintana Roo late Thursday night to face homicide and injuries charges.
“As a result of an exhaustive field investigation, office work and technological analysis, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office executed an arrest warrant against Amir “N” for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting the crimes of homicide and injuries caused by the collapse of a structure in a residential complex in Cancun that left two people dead and five injured,” police said in a statement.
The arrest was made in the state of San Luis Potosí in close collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of that state.
According to the investigations, the collapse occurred on June 5 at the main entrance of a housing complex. The entrance archway collapsed while work was being carried out on the site, causing the death of two workers and injuries to five others.

Police have not said what role Amir “N” played in the collapse of the structure that left dead and injured.
