Survey results show Mexicans rate President Sheinbaum with 81 percent approval

Mexico City, Mexico — Recent survey results gives Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum an 81 percent approval rating. The survey was conducted by El Financiero between April 3 to 7 and April 24 to 28.

Approximately 1,100 adults participated in the phone survey, giving President Sheinbaum the high rating. The survey found that 50 percent of Mexicans view the political relationship between Claudia Sheinbaum and U.S. President Donald Trump as positive.

That public view has shifted since the start of the year when, at the start of her term in 2024, locals viewed the relationship between the two presidents as bad. This shift indicates that, among public Mexican opinion, although Trump may still be a source of uncertainty, the President’s relationship with her American counterpart has improved.

Other survey results showed 64 percent of Mexicans view Claudia Sheinbaum’s stance on banning U.S. immigration ads in Mexico as positive. That figure is from the 45 percent of Mexicans who have seen the ads.

Regarding pubic safety, 57 percent of Mexicans agree she is doing a good job, however, 61 percent said they were still concerned about organized crime. In the case of social support, 83 percent agreed with Sheinbaum’s management.

In terms of government performance assessments, the survey indicates a slight improvement in the economy where favorable opinions rose from 68 percent in March to 74 percent in April. The survey showed a near-recovery to its February rating of 76 percent.

According to El Financiero, the survey methodology included national telephone survey of 1,100 Mexican adults conducted from April 3 to 7 and from April 24 to 28, 2025. A probability sample of residential and cell phone numbers was used in the 32 states. With a 95 percent confidence level, the margin of error for the estimates is +/- 3.0 percent. * Question asked from April 24 to 28 (n=500).
