State launches Made in Quintana Roo to help promote local artisans

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama has announced the launch of the Made in Quintana Roo website. The newly developed website will help promote registered artisans to become recognized for their unique craft.

“In Quintana Roo we believe in the power of things made with love, with identity and with purpose. When an artisan grows, so does their family, their community and of course, our state,” Governor Lezama reported.

She explained that during the first phase, 84 artisans will be selected to receive training and media promotion through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDE).

“Because in this new way of governing, we don’t want anyone to be left out or left behind. In this humanist government we put people at the center of decisions so that prosperity is shared,” she said.

The new Made in Quintana Roo Artisanal website will help local producers become recognized as living heritage of the state.

“This is what the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo is all about, as we did with Mayan embroidery, which is part of the state’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, so that prosperity reaches every home in Quintana Roo,” she added.
