Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The state has welcomed the addition of 101 newly trained police officers into the SSC. The officers completed a 1,080 training hours at the State Academy of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).
On Wednesday, they were awarded certification of completion during a ceremony at the C5 Security Complex in Cancun. Governor Mara Lezama said of the 101 officers, 67 are new recruits (44 women and 23 men) and 34 are active police officers (10 women and 24 men), all members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Quintana Roo.
Mara Lezama congratulated the graduates and expressed her hope that their work will dignify the profession and reward them with the satisfaction of a duty fulfilled and recognition from the population.
However, she noted that in order to connect with the community they will serve, it will be essential to gain the trust of its inhabitants based on their integrity, integrity, good judgment and effective performance.
“Being trustworthy and effective will strengthen and increase the positive perception of the institutions in charge of protecting citizens. Through you, we will promote an image in accordance with the duty of your noble profession because each one of you is potentially a hero or heroine who safeguards public order and protects the integrity of people,” she said.
Julio César Gómez Torres, the Secretary of Citizen Security, explained that the newly trained cadet course included Regulatory Framework of the Police Function and Protocols for Police Action, Prevention and Social Linkage, Police Techniques and Tactics, Complementary Training, Physical Development and Conditioning, Deontological and Axiological Framework of the Police Function.
They were also given 40 hour courses on Pop Model Course, “Masculinities” Course and the “Empowerment” Course.
The primary objective is to train new police officers in the state of Quintana Roo so that they acquire knowledge, techniques, tactics and skills that allow them to respond efficiently in matters of public safety and thus guarantee the well-being of citizens.
During the ceremony, the Governor highlighted the fact that the first female director of the Police Academy, Jazivy May Azueta, a graduate of the same institution, is participating in the Conference of the International Association of Women Police Officers in Chicago, among 850 from different countries, putting Quintana Roo on the map.
