Chetumal, Q.R. — Six men missing in Quintana Roo from the state of Nayarit have been found. The men were located Tuesday after being reported abducted from a Chetumal hotel earlier this month.

“The State Attorney General’s Office reports that six people originally from the state of Nayarit have been found alive. They were reported missing after an alleged unlawful deprivation of liberty that occurred at a hotel in the state capital,” authorities reported Tuesday.
The men had missing person reports activiated in both Nayarit and in Quintana Roo. They were missing approximately 20 days before reappearing.
“Initial investigations indicate that the victims arrived in Quintana Roo in mid-July of this year to work in the maintenance and cleaning areas of a hotel, however, they were later forced to work in an illegal cigar factory.

“The State Attorney General’s Office is continuing its investigation to clarify the facts and bring the person or persons responsible for these crimes to justice,” they added in a statement.
ADO bus station employees notified authorities Tuesday that the men were inside the Chetumal bus station. They were taken into protective custody and questioned. After their rescue, the FGE head Raciel López Salazar said “the investigations into this case do not end with the location of these victims.
“The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo, in collaboration with its counterpart in Nayarit, will continue working together to clarify the facts and find the person(s) responsible, as well as to locate the individuals who have not yet been located.”

In mid-September, the State Attorney General reported eight men from Nayarit were missing from that same Chetumal hotel. They were believed caught up in an illegal Korean cigar smuggling ring. Their Tuesday statement did not mention the other two men still missing.
