Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Military parades around the state of Quintana Roo went ahead despite torrential rain Wednesday morning. Despite the downpours, Revolution Day parades went ahead as scheduled.
Most parades began their military march shortly after 8:00 a.m. despite the wet weather. Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta lead the city’s morning parade “with fervent patriotic love to remember the heroes who defended Mexico,” she said.
Peralta led the civic-sports military parade for the 114th Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution where more than 3,500 people participated. Cancun was one of the 11 municipalities to participate in Mexican Revolution Day.
“This is how our traditional parade commemorating the Mexican Revolution was lived! Families, students and community groups filled the streets with color, pride and enthusiasm, remembering the heroes who marked our history.
“We thank all the participants who made this event a true celebration of unity and tradition. Thank you for joining us in this traditional celebration!” Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo wrote on social media.
Further south, José María Morelos Mayor Erik Borges Yam celebrated the national holiday in sun. Participants in the 2024 military parade marched through dry town streets Wednesday morning in celebration of the Mexican Revolution of 1910.
The parade, which began at 7:30 a.m. with the participation of 4,500 people, was able to finish ahead of the torrential rains.
Heavy rain was forecast for the Yucatan Peninsula ahead of the arrival of a mass of U.S. arctic air. The cold air, Cold Front 10 which began to enter Mexico Tuesday, is forecast to blast Quintana Roo with its first winter weather Thursday before heading off for the weekend.
