José María Morelos, Q.R. — Nearly 2 million pesos has been invested in the remodeling of a rehabilitation centre in José María Morelos. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa toured the near finished facilities of the José María Morelos Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRIM) Monday.
Lezama says the remodeling was made after years of abandonment, which made it difficult to provide services to families from Mayan communities such as X-Cabil, Huay-Max, X Querol, Sacalaca, Kantemó.
The Governor reported nearly 2 million pesos was spent on the remodeling of the facility that was built in 2011, but not maintained.
“This is what the New Agreement for Social Welfare and Development is about, bringing social justice to where it is most needed and to whom it is most needed, such as the families of Mayan communities with deficiencies and who do not have other facilities other than these,” she said.
The CRIM facilty has a reception area as well as areas of psychology, management, physical therapy, speech therapy, multisensory room, mechanotherapy, multisensory stimulation room and a therapeutic tank.
This CRIM is the most representative rehabilitation care unit in the area. It was inaugurated in 2011 and since that date it has not received maintenance which caused a reduction in its functionality to 60 percent. Its service area includes 64 Mayan communities, Lezama explained.
“In this way we will be able to guarantee the success of the comprehensive rehabilitation treatments that are provided here for the benefit of the inhabitants who face a disability,” said the Governor.
Lezama was accompanied by the Honorary President of DIF (Sistema Nacional para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia) Verónica Lezama Espinosa who said that according to the 2020 Population Census, the municipality of José María Morelos has more than 39,000 residents of which 5 percent represent some type of disability.
