Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Quintana Roo breaks another record with 771 flights in a single day between four international airports. Governor Mara Lezama said the latest Friday record broke the December 20 record of 766 flights.
She said the new record reflects sustained growth, visitor confidence and coordinated efforts to strengthen air connectivity. She reported that the state has once again demonstrated its strength as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.
On December 26, the state of Quintana Roo recorded 771 flights between its four international airports: Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum and Chetumal. Of those flights, 693 were at Cancun International.
According to ASUR, the Cancun airport managing company, Cancun International recorded 693 of those 771 operations Friday. Of the 693, 264 were international arrivals and 261 international departures.
The balance were national flights in and out of the Cancun airport.

Other busy airport numbers include December 20, 2025 with 766 air operations in a single day, on December 28, 2024, with 765 operations, on January 4, 2025 when 760 operations were recorded and on March 15, 2025 with a total of 752 operations.
“This momentum is reaffirmed with new record highs that reflect the destination’s sustained growth and the confidence of millions of travelers. These end-of-year holidays have made it clear that Quintana Roo continues to expand and that more and more tourists are choosing the Mexican Caribbean to celebrate the holiday season.
“They are attracted by its air connectivity, its world-class tourism infrastructure and the diverse experiences the state offers through its destinations,” she said.
Mara Lezama acknowledged that this success is the result of coordinated work between all levels of government, the tourism sector and local communities, such as the Maya Ka’an destination, one of those registering the greatest tourism growth.

Governor Lezama emphasized that, with these historic results, the Mexican Caribbean reaffirms its position as a driving force for tourism in Mexico and as a destination that not only breaks records, but also moves forward with an inclusive and sustainable vision for the future, benefiting everyone.
On Friday and Saturday, hundreds of Cancun bound flights were either delayed or cancelled due to a winter storm across the northeast U.S. Airlines JetBlue, Delta, United, American and VivaAerobus were the most affected with their Cancun flights.
