Quintana Roo first state to sign agreement with newly elected judges

Chetumal, Q.R. — Quintana Roo became the first state in the country to sign a Collaboration Agreement with the new First Instance judges. The new judges were announced in the recent Judicial Branch elections.

Accompanied by Chief Justice Heyden Cebada Rivas of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ) and the Judicial Council, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa participated in the start of the Induction Course. The course will be taken by 105 judges as part of a strategy to ensure a more humane, accessible, transparent and truly socially oriented administration of justice.

From Cancun, 52 judges will participate along with 28 from Chetumal, 14 from Playa del Carmen and 11 from other municipalities.

“I am convinced that the best are here. The people were not mistaken in the historic elections for the Judiciary. With this agreement, we will achieve true social justice,” stated Governor Mara Lezama.

Mara Lezama emphasized that under the leadership of President Sheinbaum, true justice for all will be achieved. She acknowledged her conviction that today’s judiciary is strong, solid and close to the people.

“We are taking a firm step toward transforming this new history. Justice should not be a privilege, it should be a right that everyone can access,” she said.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Heyden Cebada stated that with this agreement, “we are making firm progress in the continuous improvement of justice, which is based on the premise that it is a shared responsibility that requires a systemic vision.

“This is also fully consistent with the philosophy that governs the harmonious action of the branches of government, which is always oriented toward social justice, shared prosperity and the construction of our perpetual peace.”

Following the signing of the agreement, a Technical Committee will be created to implement the agreement and work will begin on the design and implementation of comprehensive training and refresher programs for elected and serving judges, through the Judicial University.

The Collaboration Agreement to Strengthen the Exercise of the Judicial Function was signed between various institutions in the state of Quintana Roo, including the Executive Branch, the Ministry of Government (SEGOB), the Ministry of Women (SEMUJERES), the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF Quintana Roo System), the Autonomous University of Quintana Roo (UAQROO), and the Judiciary.
