Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Over a dozen new police vehicles have been put into circulation around Puerto Morelos. The vehicles were delivered by Governor Mara Lezama and Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.
Lezama said Friday that the vehicles will reduce emergency response times by up to 40 percent and strengthen police presence in neighborhoods and communities.

A total of 15 units were delivered. They are equipped with four security cameras, three exterior and one interior, a GPS system for permanent monitoring, a video recording system and an interconnected radio
Governor Lezama led the delivery of 15 new patrol vehicles to the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security of Puerto Morelos. According to Lezama, the 15 modern units costs 16 million pesos, money spent from the Environmental Sanitation Trust.
“Safety means that a mother can feel at ease when her daughters and sons leave home. It means that a family knows that when they need help, there will be a quick and timely response.
“It means that our communities can live in peace,” said Lezama said during the delivery ceremony.
Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari said the fully equipped patrol units will improve the operational coverage of the municipal police. She said every day, they patrol neighborhoods, communities and public spaces to protect more than 71,000 residents of Puerto Morelos.
She said the new units will help reduce response times for security agencies by 30 to 40 percent, in addition to strengthening operations. With the new cars, 90 percent of the police vehicle fleet will be active 24 hours a day.

Mayor Blanca Merari announced that with the15 new units, the municipality now has a total of 54 patrol cars, exceeding the original goal of 50. She explained that during her first term, from 2021 to 2024, the fleet reached 30 units, and the goal for this term was to increase it to 50, but they reached 54.
