Chetumal, Q.R. — The city’s Urban transport has proposed 11 new circuits to be added throughout Chetumal. The Comisión de Movilidad del Cabildo del Ayuntamiento de Othón P. Blanco presented the proposal Friday for urban transportation circuit routes for Chetumal consisting of 11 interconnected routes
The routes to be covered will include Americas Circuit, Calderitas Circuit, Caribbean Circuit and Central Circuit.
The Mobility Commission of the Othón P. Blanco City Council reported that the “Proposal for the implementation of circuit-type routes in urban public transport in Chetumal” is made up of the so-called Americas Circuito Américas, Circuito Calderitas, Circuito Caribe y Circuito Centro.
The proposal also includes Circuito Colonias, Circuito Hospitales, Circuito Insurgentes, Circuito Obregón, Circuito Obrero, Circuito Payo Obispo y Circuito Uqroo.
Following the unanimous approval of the proposal, it was reported that it will be presented to Mayor Yensunni Martínez Hernández, and Rafael Hernández Kotasek, head of the Mobility Institute of the State of Quintana Roo (Imoveqroo).
The Mobility Commission of the Othón P. Blanco City Council is made up of Germán González González, Mayra Cunil González and Jorge Herrera Aguilar, president, secretary and member, respectively.

Germán González González pointed out that the 11 routes will cut down on travel time and bus connections for those who need to transfer buses to get to their destination. He says the proposed circuits will also mean more bus stops and lessened distances for residents to walk to catch public transportation.
The approval of the Urban Public Transport Regulations will be an important step toward issuing a public call for a company to operate the public transport system in the state capital.
In 2014, there were 14 urban transport routes in the state capita. Currently there are only seven routes operated by minibuses. Most of the routes travel north-south, but due to growth, are no longer sufficient.
