Riviera Maya, Q.R. — President Claudia Sheinbaum has ordered a review of the construction of section five of the Maya Train. The Riviera Maya section of Tren Maya has been ordered reviewed after allegations of piling subsidence.
President Sheinbaum has ordered a technical review be conducted on the structure of the Riviera Maya section five by local authorities.
During her Wednesday morning press conference, she said that the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, has been sent analyze the situation.

The review will be in conjunction with personnel from the Ministry of National Defense to determine the extent of the allegations.
Sheinbaum clarified that the work shown in a video released by an engineer corresponds to work carried out since the original construction of the project.
In the recording, the engineer reported that the shoring up of the structure was due to an alleged sinking of the pilings, and reported that personnel working the project asked him to delete the video.
While there are no formal reports of damage, Sheinbaum stressed the importance of conducting a technical assessment to clarify the situation and provide certainty about the condition of the structure.
“I asked him to meet with the Ministry of Defense to specifically review the complaint being made,” she stated, explaining that the analysis will confirm the condition of the section and address concerns according to technical criteria.
She also clarified that to date, “there is no structural problem” with the Tren Maya.
