Mexico City, Mexico — President Claudia Sheinbaum presented Mexico’s Olinia 1 electric vehicle. It is the country’s first private electric vehicle.
“Olinia is transformation and Mexico is in transformation,” she said during the presentation.

President Claudia Sheinbaum led the presentation of Olinia 1, the first Mexican electric vehicle, which represents the transformation that Mexico is experiencing.
“Olinia represents much more than an electric car. It represents a seed, the seed of a new innovation ecosystem built from Mexico, the seed of a national industry that can grow from the ground up, driven by the knowledge, creativity, and work of thousands of Mexicans.
“The seed of a mixed economy in which universities, research centers, the state, and the creative initiative of society collaborate to develop new technologies, new solutions, and new national capabilities.
“That’s why Olinia is movement, movement between the Mexico we inherited and the Mexico we are building together, movement between our history and our hope. Movement between the creativity of our youth and the possibilities of a new stage of national development that creates, innovates, and has confidence in itself.
Olinia 1 has a six-person capacity, a range of 125 kilometers per charge and starts at 150,000 pesos (around $8,600 USD). She says the goal is to begin deliveries in the summer of 2027.
Roberto Capuano Tripp, the Director of the Olinia Project, said the Olinia 1 will be offered in different models starting at 150,000 pesos.
He also said they are working with the Ministry of Energy and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to install the first 2,000 charging points in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Puebla.

Anothel model, the Olinia Cargo, a vehicle designed for transporting goods, will be unveiled next month.
