President announces collaboration agreement between Mexico and France

Mexico City, Mexico — Mexico has signed a collaboration agreement with France in scientific, diplomatic and cultural matters. The announcement was made during the official visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

On Friday, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo detailed that among these agreements is the simultaneous temporary exchange of the Azcatitlán Codex and the Boturini Codex, the former will be exhibited in Mexico and the latter in France.

“They are fundamental to the relationship between Europe and Mexico. They represent the living memory of our history, the written voice of our ancestors and the deep root of our identity.

“The cultural greatness of Mexico is not measured solely by its past, but by the strength with which that past continues to give meaning to our present and guide our future,” she said at a press conference.

Both leaders finalized the collaboration on environmental issues, women’s rights and academic mobility between the two nations.

In a joint press conference, Sheinbaum recalled that in 2026, the trade agreement with the European Union will be renewed within the framework of the 200 years of diplomatic relations with France.

She thanked the French people and their president for their cooperation and shared commitment to culture, equality and historical justice.

“President Macron, your visit symbolizes a new stage in the relationship between Mexico and France, a stage marked by mutual understanding, frank dialogue and the will to build together a future of peace, development and justice between our nations and for the whole world.”
