Cancun, Q.R. — A lone male is in custody on accusations of setting fire to two vehicles in Cancun Friday night. Cancun firemen were called to the scene of two separate vehicle fires reported intentionally set.
Police say Leónides “N”, alias El Flaco, is in custody for narcotics offences but is believed responsible for setting the late night blazes. During his Saturday arrest, he was found in possession of marijuana, a lighter and a container of butane gas.

On Friday night, Cancun firemen reported responding to two vehicle fires on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue.
“Cancun Fire Department Responds Quickly. Emergency crews responded to a fire affecting two vehicles on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue.
“Thanks to the prompt intervention of the Cancun Fire Department, the situation was brought under control quickly, preventing further damage. No injuries were reported.
“Firefighters worked in coordination with security authorities and Cancun Civil Protection to secure the area,” they reported in a brief statement.

February 27, 2026.
On Saturday the FGE (State Attorney General) announced the arrest of Leónides “N”.
“Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with National Guard and the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit, captured a male in flagrante delicto for his alleged participation in acts probably constituting the crime of drug dealing.
“The arrest of the man who identified himself as Leonides “N”, alias “El Flaco” took place during an operation when the participating agents were driving through the intersection of the National Polytechnic Institute and Chac Mool avenues in Superblock 514.
“During the routine check, they found dried green herb with characteristics similar to marijuana, a lighter and a container with liquid similar to butane gas,” the FGE said.
“Initial investigations suggest that the suspect is linked to the arson of two compact cars which occurred on the night of February 27th of this year on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue at which time he may have been under the influence of alcohol and drugs,” they added.
“According to the initial lines of investigation, the alleged perpetrator acted individually, voluntarily and without the participation of third parties, since at the time of the events, he was possibly under the influence of alcohol which would have influenced his behavior.”

On Friday night, Cancun firemen reported extinguishing two vehicle fires on Andrés Quintana Roo Avenue, one in a car and the other in a small cargo truck. The fires are believed the result of arson.
