Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A private pickup truck was completely eaten by flames Thursday morning. The vehicle, which was parked outside a home in Pescadores II, began to smoke under the hood.

Within minutes the engine began shooting flames that quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle. Solidaridad firemen were called in around 10:00 a.m. to put out the intense truck fire.
The fire threw thick black smoke into the air that neighbors reported being able to see for blocks. Firemen found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames on Alondras Street. There was nothing they could do to save the pickup.
There was no one in the vehicle at the time of the fire. An official cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
“Always ready to help you, our firefighters put out the fire of a vehicle in the Pescadores 2 neighborhood. After receiving the report, the elements arrived at Alondras Street where the vehicle was on fire for unknown reasons, so they proceeded to put out the fire.

“No injuries were reported,” Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos de Solidaridad said in a brief statement.
