Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Four members of Hard Rock hotel staff were treated for smoke inhalation in an early morning warehouse fire. Civil Protection personnel and city firemen responded to a fire at the Hard Rock Hotel early Friday morning.
The fire started in the hotel’s warehouse area just before 3:00 a.m. Friday. Emergency services were called to the Riviera Maya hotel in response to reports of flames that had spread to a second building.
According to Civil Protection, the fire required the preventive evacuation of staff to ensure their safety, while crews extinguished the flames and prevented further spreading to other areas.
“Four employees who presented symptoms of smoke inhalation poisoning were treated at the scene. Fortunately, none of them suffered serious injuries,” they reported.
“The fire was brought under control in a timely manner, reducing major risks to both staff and hotel facilities,” they added.

The first fire destroyed a 5m by 5m storage warehouse that spread to another warehouse used to store electrical supplies. Once both fires were out, firemen stayed behind for cooling and inspection to prevent a restart. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
