PDC and Tulum mayors meet to consolidate shared work agenda

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — In a high-level institutional meeting, the mayor of Playa del Carmen, Estefanía Mercado, held a meeting with the mayor of Tulum, Diego Castañón.

The pair met Wednesday with the goal of consolidating a shared work agenda on public safety, tourism promotion and social development. “The meeting reaffirms the commitment of both municipalities to promote regional well-being and develop strategies that positively impact the quality of life of their citizens,” Mercado said.

“Tulum is a sister municipality that was once part of Playa del Carmen. Today it shines as one of the Caribbean’s most important destinations and we are convinced that by working together, we can multiply the benefits for our communities,” said Estefanía Mercado.

During the meeting, priority topics were addressed such as security coordination, the design of joint routes to boost national and international tourism and concrete actions in inclusion, social care and community development programs.

With this alliance, Playa del Carmen and Tulum reaffirm their leadership in southern Quintana Roo, investing in a collaborative governance model that responds to the demands of the present and the vision of a shared future.

The Mayor emphasized that these actions are part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen regional prosperity. She rreiterated that her government is committed to transformation from the ground up with the people at the center of every decision.

“When there’s collaboration there’s transformation, and when two destinations like Playa del Carmen and Tulum join forces, all of Quintana Roo wins,” she said.
