Over 5.2 million being invested in repaving of heavily used Puerto Morelos street

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Municipal authorities say over 5.2 million pesos will be spent reconstructing Vallarta Street. Project work began Thursday in the Tierra Nueva neighborhood of the town of Puerto Morelos. Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz launched the reconstruction project that will see Vallarta Street, between Timón Avenue and Brújula Street, repaved.

The project, which is part of the 2025 Works Program, will include preliminary work, supply and installation of a hydraulic base, 5 cm thick asphalt pavement and horizontal and vertical signage.

Mario Salinas Castro announced the start of the project Thursday.

“Today we begin the transformation of a street that for years, has been a daily passageway for families, students and workers in our community,” she said.

“While the project will cause inconvenience during construction, please be aware that this is a process and that in the end, the results will be gratifying for everyone because we will enjoy a decent, safe, and functional street,” she added.

The mayor noted that Puerto Morelos is growing, and that streets like Vallarta, which connects to older neighborhoods and the urban area, are increasingly trafficked.

“That’s why we decided to undertake this important project, which is possible to finance thanks to the good management of municipal resources,” said the mayor.

Mario Salinas Castro, the head of Public Works, explained that Vallarta is one of the most important streets in Puerto Morelos.

“This project isn’t just about asphalt and machinery, it’s a commitment to mobility, accident prevention, and the dignity of pedestrians and motorists. Every meter of these streets is a step toward a better Puerto Morelos and a better quality of life for each of us.

“We will reduce risks and create conditions for better traffic for people and vehicles; in return, I ask you to take care together of what we are building with everyone’s efforts,” he said.
