Cancun firemen were called to the centrally located building Monday morning after internal brigades noticed the fire. According to the Cancun Fire Department, those brigades had the fire under control by the time city firemen arrived.

As a precaution, a total of 342 people were evacuated from the building while the third floor fire was dealt with.

“Our Cancun Civil Protection team responded to a report of a small fire at the Federal SAT offices, located in SM 8 within the Plaza Vivendi complex.

“As a precautionary measure, 342 people were evacuated from the complex. The incident originated at the main electrical panel on the third floor and was promptly brought under control by the building’s internal response teams,” Cancun Civil Protection reported later that same day.

The office was temporarily closed while crews worked to ventulate the building. Municipal authorities also confirmed no injuries during the Monday morning incident.

“Due to smoke accumulation, operations were temporarily suspended to ventilate the area and ensure safe conditions for staff to re-enter. No injuries were reported.”

The source was a switchboard fire on the third floor July 13, 2026.

According to Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, the Secretary General of the Benito Juárez City Council, the fire originated in the main switchboard area located on the third level of the building.
