Tulum, Q.R. — Officials are working on a plan to revitalize the craft centre located in the Archaeological Zone of Tulum. Pedro Canul Méndez, Administrator of the Tulum Artisan Center, says they are exploring options to reopen the spaces, some of which have been vacant for nearly 10 years.
He says talks have been had with tour operators and advertising companies as part of their exploration into rescuing the commercial spaces.
Méndez says one of the key strategies is to take advantage of the consistent flow of visitors to the Tulum Archaeological Zone, which he says, averages 3,000 a day. He says the possibility of boosting the craft center corridor is there.
The Artisan Center Administrator says it is important to hone in on those visitors by creating a complete experience and not only and in-and-out visit of the ruins. This could include a tour of the businesses and the purchase of local artisan products.
