Cancun, Q.R. — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama says tourist travel improvements continue at the Cancun airport. Officials toured the customs and baggage areas of the Cancun International airport Thursday.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa held a work meeting with the head of the National Customs Agency of Mexico, Hector Alonso Romero Gutierrez. Both toured the Cancun International Airport to supervise progress and coordinate actions aimed at improving customs operations and passenger service.

During the work tour, authorities toured the baggage claim area and reviewed the processes that have reduced and streamlined baggage wait times.
Officials also observed inspection procedures at the security checkpoints with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and expediting processes to provide a better experience for travelers.
As part of the operational strengthening efforts, the Customs Directorate announced the upcoming acquisition of new specialized scanners as well as the addition of more personnel to reinforce inspection efforts, optimize review times, and maintain security standards at the airport terminal.

Officials also followed up on the state’s Southern Fiscalized Precinct project, a strategic project to strengthen the logistics and customs infrastructure of Quintana Roo, in addition to promoting activities related to foreign trade.
