Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Government officials report the Nicolás Bravo / Kohunlich Maya Train station 95 percent complete. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa toured the station Friday in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), who are in charge of its construction.
“This train represents the key to the comprehensive development of local communities and reflects the commitment of this humanistic and transformative government to the creation of infrastructure that physically unites communities and drives them towards shared prosperity, reducing inequalities and strengthening the socioeconomic fabric of the Mayan region,” said the Governor.
An access road that is being built from the federal highway to the Tren Maya station and nearby archaeological zone was also part of the visit.
“From here visitors will be able to connect, through the access road to the federal highway that Sedena is building, with the archaeological zones of Kohunlich, Dzibanché, Kinichná.
“The road also goes to the Mayan Wellbeing Market where visitors will be able to purchase products made in the border area of Quintana Roo,” she said.
During her tour, she also reported on a significant archaeological discovery in the community of Nicolás Bravo, in Othón P. Blanco. The discovery was made on the road to the Maya Train station and includes remains of a residential complex dating from the 3rd to the 9th century near the archaeological zone of Kohunlich.
“This discovery not only allows us to better understand our past, but also invites us to revalue the immense cultural wealth of southern Quintana Roo and our entire state,” she added.
