Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum will have an intercity bus terminal and new taxis with security cameras and digital pay systems. Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo made the announcement Thursday after a meeting with municipal officials.
Castañón Trejo said he met with the Institute of Mobility and the Taxi Driver’s Union to discuss key projects. Some of those projects, he announced, include a new intercity bus terminal, taxi stands and ride-share apps.
Tulum’s new mobility plan also includes the addition of modern vehicles and better organized taxi stands. Tulum taxis will be outfitted with a digital payment option, security cameras and translation apps for non-Spanish speaking passengers.

Castañón Trejo met with Enrique Pérez, the Tulum Delegate of the State Institute of Mobility and Manuel Solis Alcocer, President of the Taxi Drivers’ Union Thursday. They agreed on the importance of working together to increase progress and benefits for residents and tourists.
Diego Castañón Trejo said Thursday that “Mobility in Tulum is built through teamwork.
“I met with the Institute of Mobility and the Taxi Drivers’ Union to align key projects: a new intercity bus terminal, better-organized taxi stands, the use of ride-hailing apps and new, more modern vehicles.
“Taxis equipped with security cameras, digital payment systems and translation services are coming soon to improve the experience for both residents and visitors.

“Tulum’s growth demands commensurate solutions so we will continue to move forward with order, dialogue and a vision for the future.”
