New Costa Mujeres Emergency Services Center 40 percent complete

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The municipal government continues to move forward with a new emergency services centre. The new centre, which is 40 percent complete, is being built in Costa Maya to house fire and civil protection units.

According to Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, the new Costa Mujeres Emergency Services Center, which is part of the 2025 Annual Investment Program (PIA) and is being built with money from the Fund for the Strengthening of Municipalities.

The finished project will house the Fire and Civil Protection units, operating strategically from Punta Sam next to the new C2 Command and Control Center.

“This project is historic as it is the first Emergency Services Center in the municipality and reaffirms our commitment to continue working for the safety of island families and the thousands of tourists who visit our destination daily,” the Mayor emphasized.

She said the Emergency Services Center will allow for coordinated work to improve response capacity to any situation that may arise and put island families and the thousands of tourists who arrive at the destination daily at risk.

The General Coordinator of Works, Ángel Hernández Azueta, reiterated that progress has been made in the casting of columns and pillars with their respective steel reinforcement, in addition to the erection of block walls and electrical installation work.

The municipal official emphasized that this project should be completed before the end of the year, which will represent a significant advance in terms of safety and civil protection.
