New C2 security centre operational in Lázaro Cárdenas

Lázaro Cárdenas, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama and Mayor Nivardo Mena Villanueva inaugurated the new municipal C2 centre. The new C2 security centre of Lázaro Cárdenas is operating with four Intelligent Monitoring Points.

“We continue to advance in building peace and security in every corner of Quintana Roo,” said Governor Mara Lezama.

Accompanied by Mayor Nivardo Mena Villanueva, the Governor emphasized that this is a momentous day for Lázaro Cárdenas, taking a firm step toward a safer future with the construction of this C2 and its four smart monitoring points.

“Citizen security is not just a promise, it’s an unwavering commitment of this new way of governing. With an investment of more than 4 million pesos, this C2 represents our determination to build peace and guarantee lasting peace for the families of Quintana Roo,” the Governor explained.

Lezama said the C2 will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, enabling an immediate response to emergencies and efficiently coordinating security resources.

“It’s not just about technology, it’s also about the ability to anticipate and protect our people,” she emphasized.

For the first time in history, Lázaro Cárdenas, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, José María Morelos, and Bacalar now have C2s.

“We have invested 18.2 million pesos of the people’s money and we’re going for more because this year, we will begin construction of C2s in Chetumal, the proud capital of the state.”

Mayor Nivardo Mena reported that in the last three years, crime rates in Lázaro Cárdenas have decreased by 22 percent by 2024, demonstrating that security measures implemented in close collaboration with the state government are decisive and effective.

Authorities did not say if the new municipal C2 security centre or any of the four monitoring points include the island of Holbox.
